From the Sotheby's sale of June 5th, 1996 featuring items from the Warshawsky corporate collection. The sharply conical shade with an allover pattern of full-blown poppy blossoms and buds in shades of amber, carrot orange, rust and pale yellow streaked with mauve reserved against a ground shading from striated midnight blue to rich violet striated with sky blue, the leafage and pistils in shades of grass and emerald green overlaid on the exterior with filigree; the base with baluster standard pierced and blown with green glass extrusions above four leaf-form feet; further raised on a circular base cast with wavy lines, has integral finial with switch, rich brown-green patina, shade impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK, base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/28610, Height 23", diameter 16 1/2" ©1996, Sotheby's New York, all rights reserved. |
