Tiffany Studios, Waterlily Lamp on rare Blown-Out Crab Base 1899-1920
This lamp appeared in Sotheby's April 1995 auction of items from the Collection of John Mecom Jr. The sharply
conical shade with an all over pattern of full-blown lotus blossoms
and buds in subtle shades of rose, lemon-yellow, emerald-green,
wintergreen and crimson striated and mottled glass resting on
floating lily pads in turquoise, emerald green and wintergreen
striated with rose and red and reserved against a ground shading
from righ turquoise to wintergreen; the base with an upper collar
cast with simple strapwork, the foot formed of three crabs cast
in full relief, has finial, shade impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW
YORK 1490-3, oil lamp insert impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/D491.
