Chapman Company, Magnolia
The flowers have beautiful cats paw textured glass in every pink hue imaginable from soft baby pink to deep red. The foliage is also constructed in a variety of glass including highly textured glass, granular to striated glass. Finally the background glass is a soft butterscotch color so that all of the focus is on the azalea flowers and foliage. Shade rests on a three socket bronze base with a reeded stem that gently goes into a swirl design at the foot. Base carries a deep green patina finish and original finial. SIZE: Shade is 19″ dia. Overall 24″ t. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with very few tight hairlines.
Ed. This model appeared as a Gorham Azalea, now known not to be. It appears in The Chapman Company's photos, titled Magnolia Tree Lamp. The example from the Chapman trove (courtesy and thanks to James Arsenault & Co), has a flat top and is mounted on a tree base. However, the glass pattern matches this one exactly and this example is on Chapman's base, also documented.
