American, Colonial Style Chandelier, attributed to Gorham

Leaded Glass Gorham Hanging Lamp Shade Shade is 33" W x 18" D - frame top to fitting 31"om One of the Rarest hanging leaded chandeliers ever offered for sale! This design is 8 sided with between 2-3000 pieces of mosaic fine leaded glass, shell,floral and shields. All original cast bronzeframe,hardware and chains , 6 original BRYANT sockets. The Gorham Mfg. Co. stands out as the only firm to outdo Tiffany in the ostentation of their work. Perhaps because they were already accomplished in bronze and silver work, they added a leaded shade studio in 1905**. This impressive Very Rare hanging model is one of their most elaborate creations. The shade is made up of over 2000 individual pieces of glass, far surpassing anything Tiffany attempted at a comparable scale.

**ED I have found no evidence of a shade making facility at Gorham, only a eclesiastical window studio.
